Caregiving & Compassion Fatigue
by Alexandra Axel
"Caregiving is draining, time consuming, difficult and emotional."
So says the author of this web article, Alexandra Axel and she's right. I've heard the same things from my niece who cares for her daughter with Cerebral Palsy and who cared for her dad at the same time for years before he passed, and my sister/friend who's caregiver for her 90-year-old mom with dementia. It isn't easy. Here's an article that might help you understand some of the strange feelings you or your family and friends are experiencing daily...
You might be experiencing compassion fatigue if:
Car Burglaries
Sergeant Menachem Green,
Orange County Sheriff's Office Agency
Avoid falling victim to car burglaries. Don't make it easy for criminals to steal your belongings. You worked hard for it, so why not make a criminal work hard for it.
Unfortunately, we still continue to see a very large number of our car burglaries occurring through unlocked car doors, or valuables left in plain sight. Please continue reminding your family and friends to lock their car doors and remove valuables. Just following these two steps significantly reduces your chances of falling victim to car burglaries.

1. At what distance before making a turn should you put on your turn signal?
The law requires you to signal your intent to turn, whether you’re leaving the highway or turning into your driveway, at least 100 feet ahead of the turn.
2. What does a solid white line on a roadway mean?
Roads often will have solid white lines showing where the shoulder of the road starts. When there is a solid white line between travel lanes, it means traffic is flowing in the same direction. And crossing a solid white line is generally considered unsafe and discouraged; crossing double white lines is prohibited.
3. What does a blinking red light mean?
You should come to a stop and proceed when the traffic is clear
Red always means stop, even if that red light is blinking.
4. If the steering wheel were a clock, where should your hands be positioned?
9 and 3? Not 10 and 2, as we were taught? That has changed along with car design and technology. Steering wheels are now smaller, more responsive, and equipped with airbags.
5. What’s the proper technique for making a right turn across a bike lane?
Cyclists have the right of way in the bike lane. Always check for cyclists that may be in your blind spot, and let oncoming riders pass through before crossing the lane.
6. Who has the right of way when a car is merging onto a highway?
The cars on the highway have the right of way and are not required to yield.
7. Who has the right of way when two cars come to a four-way stop at the same time?
The car to the right has the right of way.
8. When legally passing another vehicle on a two-lane roadway, you must:
Return to your lane before coming within 200 feet of an oncoming vehicle.
9. When should you yield to pedestrians?
When there is a traffic-controlling device indicating when pedestrians can cross, cars must stop. In most states, cars are expected to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks. Keep an eye out for pedestrians and be prepared to yield or stop for them.
10. In what circumstances can you legally use your cell phone while driving?
Most states ban text messaging while driving. Most also ban all cell phone use for teen or novice drivers. Most, but not all, states allow hands-free cell phone use. Cell phones unquestionably lead to distracted driving, so keeping use to an absolute minimum is highly recommended.
